"I am an artist working from my home studio in Athens, Georgia. I strive to provide a unique perspective on utilitarian pots, hoping that each pot will become an enjoyable part of the owner’s daily rituals. I find inspiration in the natural world, often sketching anything that catches my eye in my own yard and beyond, then reinterpreting those sketches in clay. All pieces are 100% handmade and made to be used.
I use the sgraffito technique, meaning to carve or scratch into a surface creating detailed imagery on my pieces. The intricate process creates beautiful images reminiscent of wood block printmaking. Pieces are then finished with cone 6, food safe glazes, in an oxidation kiln, creating stark contrast between the clay color, slip color and liner glazes. Sets of pottery make for a beautiful table setting or individual pieces can be used to add interest to any serving set."
